Radical cleaning

I just deleted all 533 emails in my inbox.  Some of which I had read, others I hadn't. I figure if there's important information in there, I can always get the person to resend it.

These last couple of weeks I have switched my phone to silent so I can't hear texts coming through or the phone ringing.  When I'm ready I check my phone, listen to messages and answer as needed.  It's liberating to not live by my phone any more.

I am desperately fighting the urge not to delete the blog and all social media accounts I hold.  I know that I will regret it later on down the track if only because I still want to be able to share photos with family. I know I will still want my Pinterest account because of all the ideas inspirational things I want to remember.  I enjoy Instagram if for nothing more than giving thanks for the 1000 gifts I see around me every day.  And Twitter, well it's good for trends and news.  It can lie dormant for a while.

I'm still trying to find time (and courage) to start the big House Declutter.  I've had enough of Stuff, of things just hanging around collecting dust and never being used.  I'm annoyed that I can't sew because of all the piles of cloth and things to be mended that are lying round the floor and desk.

Am I the only one?

  2. No, you're not the only one. I'm working on 300 emails in ONE of my email accounts (gone are the days when I only HAD one account - sigh). About a month ago, I switch my phone to silent or vibrate, mostly because I didn't want to be ruled by it.

Don't delete your online presence (although I completely understand)...we'd miss you. Yes, even those of us who don't actually know you in real life. :) Have a good weekend, my friend!

  5. You aren't the only one! I too have these times, where I just want to make everything as simple as possible, with as little extravagance as I can muster. But it takes more serious thought, than just deciding to delete and toss and give away. I've had lots of regrets in doing that (without thinking about it too much!).
I wish you luck with the big declutter. It's getting to be spring here, and I feel a deep purge in my near future. Hopefully yours is successful!!
    xoxo, Jess

  6. All the best - be brave and declutter! I declutter when I have energy. I know that I feel better and lighter after doing it, though it isn't always easy when dealing with chronic pain. I am pleased to say that I have managed to keep my bedroom clutter free! Loungeroom - ah, well, the Little Princess does help me keep the mess to the edges LOL.
