Our beautiful friends had the genius idea of six families renting a house together for the weekend to celebrate a 40th birthday. We knew it was a pretty special place but we had no idea just how spesh!
ODawn on the first morning was a nice perk given that Little Bun kept me awake most of the night.
Through the fish eye lens of my phone camera you can see some of the funky loveliness of this 7 bed mud-brick house. Built by a writer/poet and her artist husband, this gorgeous sprawling house and gardens has amazing details - designer wallpaper, romantic netting, gorgeous cushions, spa bath, luxurious showers, artistic lighting, nautical roping, playhouse. It must have been the singularly best-equipped most luxurious house I've ever stayed in!
Poor Mr B's feet hung over the end of this romantic bed and his head scraped the thatched eves. The joys of being tall!
It was a weekend of feasting and celebrating two birthdays, swimming (for the kids), boys poker nights, camp fire, laughing and more feasting. Oh yes, and I managed to get a bit of crochet in too! We had to be rolled home in a barrel after malva pudding, birthday cake, a lot of chocolate, a giant fry up, coffees on tap, pancakes, bbqs, a delicious potato bake and salads (yes there were some - plain, waldorf, greek and baby spinach). We won't need to eat for a week.
If you're looking for somewhere to book in the Berry NSW area, here's a great place to stay. Thank you Lizann & James for inviting us, what an incredible weekend!
